St Botolph’s School, Sport and Play Surfacing
Product: MUGA
Budget: £60,000
Brief: The client was looking for a new MUGA sports site and a safer surfacing space in the playground. They were after surfacing which would be durable and hard wearing.
Surfacing Installed : We cleaned off the existing macadam surface and scraped and cleaned the encroaching soil/mud from the adjacent banking.
In preparation for the Nike wet pour surface, we repaired the existing surface before laying 564m2 of the Nike Grind wet pour rubber surfacing in green. We also applied line markings over the top for various sports.
In addition to this work, we also supplied and laid 691m2 of 45mm thick EN1177 certified bonded shredded green rubber mulch onto grass/earth which gives a free fall height of 1.5m when laid onto natural grass.
The Outcome: The school are delighted with the outcome of the project. With two fantastic spaces in their playground, the children can make use of the both areas.
The Nike grind was a good option to offer a durable, hard wearing surface with excellent grip properties, alongside being a recycled surface option.
The bonded rubber mulch is also an environmentally friendly option made from recycled rubber tyres bonded together. This gives an effect of bark but without the loose surface mess.
Installation: Installation was completed during term time so HERAS fencing was erected to protect the students at all times. Work was completed on time and within budget.
